Originally, in American history, a Day of Thanksgiving would be called to celebrate any special blessing that had been received, such as a good harvest or a battle won. This eventually led to George Washington calling for a National Day of Thanksgiving in late November 1789 in order to publicly thank God for his blessings. In the new millennium, although being thankful is still the prime objective, spending time with our families and appreciating each other has become equally important to most people. Due to this emphasis on spending time together, many families are turning to restaurants to provide them with a spectacular Thanksgiving Day meal. Some families eat out; while others order from a restaurant and take it home.
